Johannes Boris Borowski was born in 1979 in Hof, Germany. He studied composition with Hanspeter Kyburz in Berlin and Marco Stroppa in Paris. He did additional studies in music theory with Jörg Mainka in Berlin.
He was resident, among others: at the Cité Internationale des Arts Paris (2007), at the Wiepersdorf Castle (2011) and in Baden-Baden (Bladreit fellowship 2012/13).
Johannes Boris Borowski received many awards, including the Hanns Eisler Prize for composition (2003) and the Stuttgart Composition Prize (2005).
He has had projects and performances with many leading ensembles and orchestras, including the Ensemble Modern, Ensemble Intercontemporain, International Contemporary Ensemble, Staatskapelle Berlin, WDR Symphony Orchestra, Lucerne Festival Academy Orchestra, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Pierre Boulez, Susanna Mälkki, Peter Eötvös, George Benjamin and Daniel Barenboim.
Borowski teaches at the Academy of Music Hanns Eisler Berlin.
